If you’re heading to Montreal for a quick getaway and have no idea where to start with your vacation planning, you’re in luck because I’ve narrowed down a few must-do’s for you if all you have is just a few days in la belle province.
A few weeks ago, I got into my feelings about my inaugural trip to LA and the happy, sappy thoughts it left me with. But now I don’t want to leave you hanging and not share some of the top hits from my trip as well.
If you’d asked me before I went away if I thought I’d come back feeling recharged, rested and balanced, I would’ve assumed no, as is the case with most vacations. Not true though. Buckle in buds, I’ve narrowed down 8 days of exploring to my top 5 must-do’s for the perfect LA trip — and not need a vacation from your vacation.
You’ve likely heard the whispers that LA doesn’t have a personality, it’s just palm trees, vapid people, and unrelenting traffic. This is how LA is generalized to those of us living outside of its sunny, shiny, perfect bubble. So when I booked my week-long trip to the City of Angels, I had nothing but high hopes thanks to my long-term love affair with California — and zero clue what to expect.
New York City: the city that never sleeps, the city so nice they named it twice, the Big Apple, the concrete jungle, etc etc… The city also known as my favourite city in North America. I think I like New York so much because there’s always something to discover. No matter how many times you’ve been, there’s always some cranny, nook, or weird tiki surf bar hidden among the towering buildings and the buzzing sidewalks that’s just waiting to be stumbled upon – or into, depending on how many mimosas you had with brunch. My latest visit to this city where dreams are made of was no exception.
It’s been over a month since I returned from my first vacay of 2019. I spent five magical days in one of my favourite cities in the world, New York City. After a two-year hiatus from the states it felt so good to be back on the isle of Manhattan. My cousin and I met up there for some sister-cousin quality time to kick off the year, and despite how frigid it was, we made the most of my first-time winter visit to the city.
This year I rang in Canada’s 151st birthday from the nation’s capital. While avoiding Canada Day in Ottawa is my usual MO, I just couldn’t say no to a day spent at the Experimental Farm (yes, you heard right, it’s a farm right in the middle of the city!) drinking new, seasonal brews from one of my fav Ontario breweries.
Osheaga rang in their 10th birthday this weekend with a guest list of 135,000 fans and friends crammed onto a tiny island. With a mix of some of their best headliners from the last few years – ranging from Schoolboy Q to Florence and the Machine, Alt-J to Marina and the Diamonds, and Kendrick Lamar to The Black Keys – there was something to please any type of musicphile that showed up for the party.
