As I mentioned last week, I decided to take on a mission: to hunt down awesome Canadians making waves on the fashion blogosophere and in the retail world.
Since the rise of the blogger over the past few years, there’s been a lot of focus on American personal style bloggers and street style from the U.S. and Europe, but Canada has plenty of talent on the personal style stage as well.
Last week I introduced you to Toronto retail queen, Jaclyn Genovese, this week I bring you Kendra Hagerman.
Kendra Hagerman is the voice and face behind Van City Pretty. She keeps her readers in the loop about all the fashionable happenings in Vancouver with sprinkles of West Coast city style throughout.
Take a peek into the fashionable mind of this self-confessed thrift store addict.
Favourite fashion memory: “The ‘spending spree’ I went on after the first time I was paid to write a fashion piece. I took the entire paycheque and spent it on myself in one shot. The dollar value was minimal, but it was the principle behind it.”
Favourite fashionable movie: “A Single Man. Everything about it is beautiful.”
Dream fashion world dinner dates: “Diane von Furstenberg, Karl Lagerfeld, and Anna Wintour.”
Favourite sources of inspiration: “I’m constantly poring over fashion magazines, websites, and blogs. I also really enjoy studying everyday people. I’m interested in what real people wear, how they make it work, and why.”
Favourite fashion quote: “‘Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future’ by Coco Chanel.”
