2009 is definitely the year of the ladies. It’s a refreshing change to see a whole slew of very talented (and definitely not overrated) female singer-songwriters ruling the charts. These ladies have been on regular rotation on my iPod for the past few weeks, so I can confidently say they are definitely worth every bit of the hype.
Lady Gaga – The most talented and creative woman in pop music right now, in both her style and her music. Pop art represent!
Demi Lovato – She is adorable, she’s down to earth, she acts her age, and she can sing, and I mean really sing. She’s the anti-Miley!
Lily Allen – Hot mess or not, she writes fun and flirty songs that are so infectious you can’t help but put the CD on repeat, like five times.
Katy Perry – There is just something empowering about this girl, and her songs are deliciously sweet in that pink bubblegum sort of way.
Taylor Swift – The 16-year-old in me definitely feels and relates to every word she is singing. First country artist I have ever loved.
